Al Qalam's story began in 1970, when Mr. Qalam Ali set up the family business in Baghdad. What started in construction grew, generation by generation, into a group working across several sectors and markets.

In 1993 the second generation took the family into the car business. Over the next three decades that work spread across Iraq, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, and cars became the heart of the family name.
